The Inn of the Sixth Happiness (movie)

The Inn of the Sixth Happiness is an old film made in 1958 based on the life of Gladys Aylward. It was a 20th century award winning movie. It took place on the years leading up to World War II. It is about an British maid who feels called to do missions work in Northern China, in which she was the first to do.

The film was shot in Britain. Snowdonia and North Wales were exterior locations. Many of the Chinese children were from Liverpool.

When Gladys Aylward saw this film for herself, she did thought it was horrible. There where several reason she didn't like this film. First, the love scenes between herself and Colonel Lin Nan never really happened. Second, it seemed in the movie she left the orphans but in actuality she stayed with them for many years.
