The Scarlet Pimpernel (book)

I love this book and I highly recommend it.
It was amazingly written and will keep you on the edge of your seat until you have come to the conclusion.

The Scarlet Pimpernel.

It all starts out in Paris 1792.

The French Revolution had degenerated into a Reign of Terror.  Ruthless mobs ruled the streets of Paris, and each day, hundreds of royalists were executed by the guillotine, with hundreds more condemned to follow. Their only hope lay in being rescued by the Scarlet Pimpernel, the daring leader of an English faction that brought aristocrats across the Channel to safety.

But who was this pimpernel, whose  name of war derived from the scarlet wild-flower he
used in place of his real name? Who was this Pimpernel that would risk his life for others?
It was an act that the bravest men in England would not risk their lives to accomplish.
Maybe this Pimpernel was mad. Maybe he was young and daring, willing to risk his neck for the fun of it.

The French are angry that their victims should be snatched right out of their grasp by
this elusive Scarlet Pimpernel.

The French send a spy....
The spy's name is Chauvelin.
He is determined to bring  the elusive pimpernel to bay.

The spy succeeds in tracking down the scarlet pimpernel right to the Guillotine itself....
